When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. When you list a property or register a vehicle, we collect the details you provide (address, vehicle info, unit specifications).
To maintain platform trust, we collect verification documents including:
Documents are encrypted at rest using AES-128 encryption. Extracted text (names, policy numbers, dates) is stored in encrypted format. Original images are compressed, encrypted, and stored on our servers — never in plain form. We do not share documents with other users or third parties except as required by law.
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. RentShift does not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full card details on our servers. Stripe's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliance protects all payment data. Your card is saved securely by Stripe for damage protection — RentShift never sees your card number.
Property addresses are geocoded for search functionality. In search results, coordinates are offset by approximately 0.3 miles to protect host privacy. Exact addresses are only revealed to renters after a confirmed booking. Listing titles show street name only (no house number).
We protect your privacy while enabling communication needed for bookings:
By completing a booking, you consent to this limited sharing for the purpose of coordinating access to the rental space. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
We send transactional emails only — booking confirmations, cancellation notices, payment receipts, insurance expiry warnings, and payout confirmations. These are required notifications tied to your account activity. We do not send marketing emails.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting [email protected]. Verification documents are retained for 90 days after account deletion for legal compliance, then permanently deleted. Booking history and transaction records are retained for tax and legal compliance for the period required by applicable law.
Under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), Texas residents have the following rights with respect to their personal data:
Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah) are afforded substantially similar rights under those laws.

RentShift is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete that information.
RentShift uses your browser's local storage and session storage to support core platform functionality:
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can clear local storage at any time through your browser's privacy settings; doing so will sign you out and clear cached search state.
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encryption at rest (AES-128 for verification documents), TLS encryption in transit (HTTPS), and access controls limiting who can view sensitive data. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of an unauthorized acquisition of unencrypted personal information that materially affects you, we will notify you without unreasonable delay — and in any event no later than seventy-two (72) hours after confirmation — and will follow all applicable state-law breach notification requirements.

By creating a RentShift account or using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use RentShift. You must be at least 18 years old to use RentShift.
RentShift is an online marketplace that connects renters seeking parking and garage spaces with hosts who own or control those spaces. The rental agreement is between the renter and the host. RentShift does not own, control, manage, inspect, or take possession of any space listed on the platform. We do not act as a real estate broker, property manager, leasing agent, or insurer, and we are not a party to any rental transaction between users.
You must provide accurate information when registering. Renters must upload a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance before booking. Hosts must provide proof of property insurance and confirm authorization to rent the space (including compliance with their lease, HOA rules, and local zoning). RentShift reserves the right to reject documents, suspend accounts, or refuse service for any reason permitted by law, including suspected fraud or violation of these Terms.
Renters' cards are saved securely at booking via our payment processor for damage protection. No upfront damage deposit is charged. If a host files a damage claim after checkout with photographic evidence, RentShift's role is limited to (a) reviewing whether the claim falls within platform guidelines, (b) facilitating communication between renter and host, and (c) — at the host's request and only after both parties have had the chance to respond — charging the renter's saved card for the documented amount. RentShift does not adjudicate fault, determine ultimate liability, or substitute for the parties' own insurance coverage.
Disputes between a renter and a host (over property condition, access, behavior, lost items, vehicle damage, or any other matter arising from the rental) are between those users. RentShift is not a party to such disputes. You agree that:
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RentShift and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your rental transactions, communications, or interactions with other users; (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; (e) any content or documents you upload; (f) damage you cause to a host's property or to a renter's vehicle; or (g) any claim by a third party (including an HOA, landlord, municipality, or insurance carrier) arising from your listing or use of a space. RentShift reserves the right to assume the exclusive defense of any matter for which we are entitled to indemnification, in which case you will cooperate with our defense.
RentShift may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe in good faith that you have violated these Terms, provided fraudulent information, harmed another user, or exposed RentShift to legal or financial risk. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. On termination, your right to use the platform ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 6 (Damage), 7 (Disputes), 9 (Limitation of Liability), 10 (Indemnification), 12 (Arbitration), and 13 (Governing Law) — survive.

You and RentShift agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, your use of the platform, or any rental transaction (a "Dispute") shall be resolved exclusively by individual binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Commercial Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall take place in Travis County, Texas, or by video conference at the arbitrator's discretion. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Before initiating arbitration, you agree to first notify RentShift of the Dispute in writing at [email protected] and to attempt good-faith informal resolution for thirty (30) days.
Class-Action Waiver. All Disputes must be resolved on an individual basis. You and RentShift waive any right to participate in a class action, consolidated action, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.
Carve-outs. Notwithstanding the above, either party may (a) bring an individual claim in small-claims court that has jurisdiction; or (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court for the protection of intellectual property or for emergency matters that cannot wait for arbitration.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to Section 12 (Mandatory Arbitration), exclusive venue for any matter not subject to arbitration shall be the state and federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect.
